I installed all the HP printer drivers and the Gimp print drivers, and I can see the .pkg in the library receipts.

But when I hit print, I get "no printer selected", and if I choose "select printer" there is no printer list to select from.

I have a Hewlett-Packard Laserjet 6MP postscript printer, connected to the iMac via Ethernet through a Hewlett-Packard Jet-Direct 300X.

I had the same problems on my last Mac, but I can't remember how I solved it.

Any ideas?

PS: when I double-click on the .pkg with the printer drivers, OS X tries to install them, but aborts the installation.

Sorry, guys, my mistake.

Got to turn off airport before printing, or ethernet will not work.

The moment I did it, everything popped into place.
