10.6 will make your Mac levitate six inches above your desk and emit a low, soothing hum.
It will take nine strokes off your golf score and add 100 points to your credit score.
It will make your irresistible to the opposite sex, or the same sex, whichever you prefer.
It will feed your pets, walk your dog and change your cat's litter box.
Instead of a kernel panic, any non-recoverable error will cause the machine to collapse into a singularity and disappear forever. Apple will ship you a new one, free of charge. This will create a parallel dimension filled entirely with crash logs.
And finally, each and every copy will come with cute puppy, equipped with eSATA.

I know a guy who knows a guy who says that they're finally getting rid of the debug code in this latest version. Oh, and it'll run on generic PC hardware, and may possibly be based on the AmigaOS.

Heard that exact same rumor. Must be true then.
Also 10.6 will offer an inconsistent GUI mess between the remains of Aqua and whatever new look Apple will introduce with 10.5.5's Mail. Kevin will fill six pages with rants about it in each 10.6 thread.
There will be another thread like this one on what 10.7 will offer before 10.6 goes on sale, too. besson3c will want to know if they finally FTFT.

Yes, there will be a completely open theming engine, except due to a bug, you won't be able to change the traffic lights or scrollbars from their 10.5 version.

In all seriousness, I wouldn't be surprised if Apple eventually starts making major OS updates free, cheaper, or releases them far less frequently. I know that there is always stuff they can add, things they can do, improvements that can be made, but whether these things can be sold to the general public is another story.

After hearing some arguments from Apple people against 3rd party iPhone apps, I'm pretty sure Apple will never do themes on OS X...

I would love if 10.6 will be based on AmigaOS - especially 3.9 - so hot right now! With MagicWB or GlowIcons = smokin' *LOL*
The head of Amiga Inc. claims that AmigaOS5 will be/is much better than OS X. WTF! Even though I love Amiga and the OS(since 1992-1993), I seriously doubt that claim.

The new OS should have at least a dozen desktop themes that are completely tweakable, at least for colours. It should come with nice games, like a jigsaw puzzle game, some solitaire, MahJongg, puzzles, and maybe checkers or backgammon. Several sets of cursors from which to choose would be nice, plus a built-in way to set up a different set of cursors. An image editing application like MS Paint would be a nice addition as well.

If this thread was sex, it would be a premature ejaculator.
10.5 still has 10 or so versions to go.
Maybe it should read "Predictions for 10.5.2"

My predictions
• It will require a Macintosh of some sort
• The minimal system requirements will be higher than those of Mac OS X Leopard
• It will pack changes to the default GUI
• It will also come with updated versions of the default applications
• Steve Jobs will say it's "the best upgrade we’ve ever released"

you forgot to mention that it will have 200-300 new features. Only 10 you will notice and only 5 you will need.

I have found that the stuff I don't need, often others do. And vice versa. And a lot of the times you don't notice the differences or improvements in an OS until you have to go back to the previous one for some reason.
I wont be moving to 10.5 on my work machine at first. I'll probably wait for applications and the OS itself to update.
But my home computer will have it. So I will be able to tell the differences a bit better I think by being able to compare the two.

No, this will be the biggest OS Upgrade ever, packing 500 new features (100 in the Terminal, 200 in iChat, and another 50 only for developers), and a redesigned dock featuring a beautiful lens flare that follows you mouse around, obstructing the icons.
Oh, yeah, and some applications and features will require an unreleased processor.

I'm hoping the next Dock revision will have fireworks coming out of the icons to indicate an application is running. Much better than those standard black triangles or boring LED lights.
Let's actually use some of that Core Animation!

The icons will be able to dance in 3 D space to your iTunes music. If you play your party mix, they jump out of the dock and run rampant around your desktop, trashing your files.
I just realized that would be an awesome screensaver.

Actually, during the Mac OS X 10.0 Cheetah days I had an application that would make your icons bounce on the beat of the music you were playing in iTunes.
Pretty cool to show off.

It still exists I think, but I'm talking full fledged dancing. The Finder would be doing a ballroom dance with System Preferences, while iLife would be breakdancing...

The entire thread is basically just a spoof of the 10.5 predictions thread.

I don't know what you guys are smoking, but I've got a copy of the latest 10.6 developers build, and it doesn't have any of the stuff you guys say it does. I will say this, the menu bar is invisible unless you roll your mouse over it.
Dock magnification now goes up to 512 pixels, and it can't be turned off.

A smelling dock - odors of the various kinds will accompany the starting of applications from the dock. Don't download feces 2.3. It's a shitty application.
Time Machine II: rejuvenates the Mac user by requiring him to produce the energy to run the mac by pedaling an electricity producing device.

Leopard should come with RAID.
Of course I don't mean "Redundant Array of Independent Drives".
I mean a digital insecticide, that kills bugs like the one you mentioned.

Veltliner, you got it wrong.
Time Machine 2.0 will not only let you browse back in time and restore files, but will also let you browse into the future so you can go grab that essay you were planning to right.

Yeah, 'cept you gotta watch out because Mac OS 11 is veeeery slow on current computers and a lot of things require Core Animation Extreme capable video cards which don't exist yet.

That's what you think. I've got the driver update that makes my GMA 950 fully support Core Animation Extreme. It's in beta, of course, so it causes some interesting display issues, like icons randomly flying around the screen in full 3D while you're working. It's pretty annoying, actually.

So I don't actually have to write it.
But who wrote it then, when I went to the future to grab the essay I would have had written by then, and therefore never had to write it, because I got it out of my own future through Time Machine before even writing it?

Your own fault if you only took the OS with you through Time Machine.
I took a 44000-core MacPro, which fortunately was small enough to put it into my wallet with the change.
Only problem is to connect a printer, because the printer cable plug is twice as large as the computer.

I don't think there is going to be a 10.6. I believe that after leopard, OS X is done and they are going to jump to 11.
