how do i remove the desktop icons with x 10.4.10......i download sofware , load it..but the icon is on my desktop, and i want to remove it...or move it to a folder,,can drag to a folder, but the icons stays on the desktop

Try control click Eject... i think your referring to a disc image maybe?
