Been using it for about an hour now. Here are some immediate thoughts...

1. The translucent menu bar can be slightly annoying. The user gets the feeling that his app or document is not all the way to the top.

2. The first time I move the dock from the bottom to the left, I was unable to move a window below the bottom one inch of the screen even though the dock was no longer there. A restart corrected this.

3. When running software update I get the following error (even though I am connected to the internet (I've posted a screen shot below): The file “index-leopard.merged-1.sucatalog” couldn’t be found on the server “swscan.apple.com”.

4. The Stock widget now uses Yahoo Finance (thank god).

5. Adium crashed first time up in Leopard, but now works fine.

6. All website icons were deleted in Safari when I installed Leopard.

7. Cover flow for apps and custom icons (like folder icons) don't look too good because they aren't as high a resolution as Leopard icons. This isn't a bug and can be fixed by developers and icon designers updating their icons to the 512x512 size.

Overall, Leopard looks great, but I think the translucent menu is going to bug a lot of people. It just throws you off when you are using it. Anyone else want to post their findings/thoughts?

I have the Software Update problem too... maybe because there is another 6 hours and 30 min until the actual release of Leopard that they officially flick that switch on? I dunno, might just be a glitch.

The software update issue was in another thread so it must be a common issue. I had no problem so far with the update...

I to thought my browser was not all the way up to the top...LOL

Sure wish apple would give us some better selections on safari color/appearence...

The dock is cool...

Observations:

Install took longer than any other OS upgrade I remember: Jaguar > Panther > Tiger

Love the new Menubar and unified look

The tri-color gels are brighter now and look even more "lickable"

The blue selection color is more vivid, too... I like that

Spaces is gonna take some getting used to

First impression of Stacks: But to be fair, I'll give it time

Haven't seen that wire mesh Trash can in a long time... Counting down to CandyBar's update

Speaking of icons, the new folder defaults are underwhelming

Selecting text in OS X is still more annoying than it is on the beige boxes @ work

Leopard seems a little slower so far on my 1.8 GHz iMac G5 w/1.5 GB of RAM

I don't have the Software Update problem documented in other threads

23 minutes left on the install on my MacBook

That's all for now

48 minutes to install on my 1.5g 12" powerbook (ppc, duh!); that includes 22 minutes checking the dvd!

no transparency on menubar on this mac (damn!)

stacks is ok with a window; that fan thing is ugly, over-the-top.

my 10.4.10 desktop mac keeps losing the network connection to my powerbook (never happened when both in 10.4.10)

sidebar is great; new sys prefs, nice. mail was easy to set up.

syncing my palm tx was a mess (but that's nothing new!); got my addresses, but not (yet) my calendar.

dock on the side; the 3d shelf is cute for 5 minutes, prefer the side view.

now back to installs, etc!

edit: got my ical & palm syncd (!), and my network went down, so no problem after all connecting 2 macs...) !!
