Here in Canada Leopard cost me $148 bucks (with taxes). I really regret it. It took me a whole afternoon to configure everything the way it was before the upgrade (call me old school), not to mention that Adium doesn't work anymore..

Quicker? A bit, but more ram would've done it for half the price.

Stacks? Spaces? And the other new features? - Need more ram.

And what's with the folder icons? OS 8? 7?

: )

Not impressed. Should've bought a new computer next year.

Adium works fine here; make sure you are running latest versions of your software. And yes, you really need more than 512MB of RAM regardless of the OS you are running these days...

Is it a coincidence that so many Fresh-Faced Recruit are posting LONG flames about 10.5?

It took me precisely zero minutes to configure things the way they were before. What on earth did you do to your system?

1) It took me less than 30 minutes to get things right back to where they were pre-upgrade. Either you don't know what you are doing or there is something wrong with your system. My vote goes to the former.

2) Leopard is faster than Tiger on the same machine with the same amount of RAM so no, more RAM will not get you the same thing.

3) More RAM? With 512 MB I'd say yes, you do need more RAM. That's the absolute minimum of Apple's recommended.

4) Personally, I like the new folder icons. Much better than the Tiger ones IMO. Looks a lot more refined and professional than the eye candy Tiger folders.

5) Should've bought a new computer next year? What does this mean?

Overall, Leopard is well worth the price. Sure there are some things that are not useful, but Time Machine, Cover Flow, Quick Look, faster Spotlight, revamped Finder, etc. are all very nice improvements/additions.

You need more RAM. Do yourself a favor - put 2gb in that machine and then re-write the review.

It only cost me $121CAD with tax. I think that the system is faster with Leopard than Tiger, but RAM is a cheap upgrade. CanadaRAM.com sells it for cheap, and delivery is fast.

I do agree with your opinion on the folders, but I am a Quicksilver user, so I can probably live with it...
