Hi everyone. A quick question about moving my home folder in Leopard...

I know how to use Directory Services to move home folders on an account by account basis (as detailed in this hint), but I would like to keep my entire /Users directory on a different disk so all new accounts are created in the new location. In 10.4 I did this by moving the /Users directory to my new location then creating a symlink to it on the system disk. I expect this will also work in 10.5, but has anyone tried?

Second question... Now that 10.5 supports hard links to directories, are there any drawbacks/advantages to using a hard link for this? Additionally, how do you even create a hard link to a directory in 10.5? Trying to do it with "ln" causes an error, as you would expect on any other UNIX system.

Thanks for any input...

Read CharlesS's explanation of Apple's implementation of hard links to folders, so that answers Q2.
