I definitely want to upgrade to leopard, so I have a few questions. Keep in mind I have a powerbook g4 revision D (came with tiger)
1. The tech specs on the website require 9 gigs of free space. I've been doing some housekeeping and right now I have 9 and a half gigs left. I can get at least two more from just deleting some old stuff I don't use, maybe more. So at least i'll have about 11 and a half. Obviously this would cover the 9 gig requirement but after the upgrade would I only have 2 gigs left?
2. I read about some issues with application enhancer/shapeshifter: Slashdot | Leopard Upgraders Getting "Blue Screen of Death"
I've been using it for a while but in preparation for the upgrade I've deleted application enhancer. I don't have external storage available to back up all my stuff so I don't/can't do a clean install. Is an archive and install the best choice or should i just try a straight upgrade. I'm not exactly sure how an archive and install works so any info on that would be helpful as well. I haven't seen any other issues, but if there are any please let me know.
FYI my music collection is on my ipod so I can restore it from there if I need to, and I regularly store all my pics on shutterfly. So if something does get botched up i'll still have my valuable stuff.
All help is appreciated.

No, you'd have quite a bit more than that as it replaces your current Tiger install

Archive and install is the best option. You may need to do some housekeeping afterwards to move stuff over from your old /System/Library, but generally this is the best way to go.
Remember to delete your old system after you are sure everything works correctly to regain the space though (see 1).

Applications are untouched. That is if you had iLife 08, CS3 installed when you were running Tiger, and then installed Leopard, via archive and install. They'd be there available for you to use. Some apps that install components in other folders may need to be re-installed. I had to reinstall Vmware's fusion but other so far that was the only one.

Is there any difference if I used my friend's copy and installed it over the weekend. My school bookstore says they will only get it by Monday and I want to get it over with during the weekend.
Its for a MBP 2.0GHz with 1GB RAM.
