I have my entire iTunes library on my external drive (also backed up onto DVD). When I just tried to start time machine for the first time, I was told that the drive would have to be completely wiped before it could use it. This is no biggie, if it needs a blank drive to begin with, as I can always load my music again by the DVDs...but my question is will it work partitioning the drive to be Time Machine and my iTunes library? It's a 300 gig, and I'm using an 80 gig macbook with about an 80gig library of music vids, so this one drive definitely has space.

The help file I found said: "NOTE: Time Machine works best if you use your backup disk only for Time Machine backups. If you keep files on your backup disk, Time Machine won’t back up those files, and the space available for Time Machine backups will be reduced."

I'm fine with the space available being reduced, but will it work properly? I don't want to have to buy a separate drive just to do this.

I'm sure other people with macbooks/macbook pros are in the same situation...what are you doing about it?
