I "Erase and Installed" Leopard on my Mac. Now the very first screen of my HD (before clicking in Applications, Library, System, or Users) there are all kinds of system folders that should be hidden.

Things like "etc", "private", "usr", "Volumes" . . . there are 14 items in this instead of what should be 4.

Any help on how to get rid of these extra icons that are cluttering up my Finder?

That does not work with Leopard. The install packages on Leopard are now binary files. They are no longer bundles.

You can create a .hidden file at the root of the drive with the names of the files/folders you want hidden. Put each item on its own line.
