Can Finder windows be assigned to a single Space like other applications? My father would really love to have this feature.

The Finder in general can be assigned to a space, but you can't assign one Finder window to be in one space and another Finder window to be in another.

What would I select to assign the Finder to a Space? I've looked but can't find any file that would indicate that it's the Finder program or Finder windows program.

Finder.app is in:
System/Library/CoreServices/Finder.app

Just navigate there from the Spaces preferences.

Not clear what all that meant, but we can't have different Finder windows *open* in
different Spaces... by using Finder's Dock icon--> New Finder Window if necessary.

I think -- in general -- it's better if Finder isn't "assigned" to one (or "Every") space.

You can have Finder windows in multiple spaces. However, you can't assign specific Finder windows to specific spaces. For example, you can't assign the Applications folder to appear in space 2 and your Home folder to appear in space 3.

True... they cannot be "assigned" as such.

Still, the same end result can be achieved manually.
Once we open those windows (in those spaces), then
ctrl-2 and 3 will work *as if* they had been assigned.

I felt that readers should understand the possibilities,
and your first post could have been misinterpreted to
mean: that goal/state is impossible.

As long as folks understand the distinction, it's cool.
