Greetings to all on this board from a new forum user.

I tried to solve this problem myself, but alas, I'm here.

I'm experiencing an issue with save/open dialog box lately.

When in any of a number, but not all, applications (Pshp, Qrk, etc) I find myself now unable to drill down into directories.
That is to say, clicking on a directory icon will cause it to open much like a tree effect, but not open per se "into" that directory. It's not so much an issue with "opening" a document. annoying, but not critical.

where it's counter-productive is in saving a file to a specific location. saving a file to a folder is always saved to the containing folder, not into the folder directly.

is this a finder pref? i'm thinking it's something global, else while it would happen in "specific" applications, not most.

i've gone through most of the permissions checking and cleaning, as well as maintenance runs (daily/weekly/monthly), but nothing has helped thus far.

any clues? let me know if i need to post a screen shot for clarity. I'm just thinking this has to be something stoopid (sic) I've inadvertently done and someone out there has the "geeze, just do this... " solution at hand.

Thanks in advance for your reading this, as well as any insights to come.

Warm regards from Miamisburg, Ohio
