I have a MBP 15" core2duo w/ 2 gigs of ram (i upgraded w/ a crucial gig a few months back). This week the whole system has been running slow even when I only have one app open like 'safari'. The only thing I can find is something called "mono" in the activity monitor that uses 1.22 gigs. Is this a problem? If not there another reason my ram is taken up?

This is a picture of my 'Activity Monitor'

Your computer has mono (aka infectious mononucleosis).

Main Page - Mono

What you're using that runs in Mono, I don't know.

Sounds like you're using some software, probably free/open source, that uses the Mono framework to run C# apps on OS X. And either that app is really demanding, Mono is a memory pig, or Mono is leaking memory.

I notice in your screenshot that it launches before the Finder.

K I believe I fixed it. I went thru the 'mono' log file and came up w/ a program called "tangerine" that I had installed a few months back and it ran w/ Itunes. I delted it and it looks like it may have fixed the memory program. Thanks for the help
