I thought there was a key combo that'd switch from list view for accounts to the login/password view (like, you hold down a key combo and click on any user.)

Or is there? I can't seem to find it on Google.

We have several computers that are in list mode, but there's a hidden administrator account that doesn't show up (and there's no "Other" option in the list view.) Would like to bring up the old login/password dialog to manually log in the administrator account.

You could create a visible Admin account, or even the root user. But give it a long random password, something no one could guess. That would force Other to appear.

I don't know about a key combination. That sounds useful.

You can change it in Account Preferences to show usernames and passwords by default, but a keyboard shortcut to switch, I don't know.

A keyboard command would be a security risk. There are many cases where you wouldn't want to expose what usernames are available on the system.

Hit an arrow key so that one of the names in the list is selected, and then press Option-Return. This will get you to the standard login/password prompt.

From there, you can type >console into the username field and leave the password blank to get an even standarder login prompt.

Ah, that's it! Thanks. I knew I read it somewhere.
