Hi all,

I'm (still) using Tiger and just noticed some wierd folders which I am sure I didn't create. Does anyone know anything about these? Please shed some light so that if they are not needed, I can delete them.

Looks to me like some program created temp folders where they don't belong. The 3rd listing is of an empty folder. If "ls -al" only returns "." and ".." then the folder is empty. Both of those are special reference links, and not file entries. Darwin will supply both for every folder.

I understand that the last one is an empty folder showing the current and parent directory links. I added its listing to indicate that the folders in those weird folders are all empty.

If they are just temp folders, then deleting them shouldn't cause any system problems. Or will it?

Nope. They're not standard to a Mac OS X system. I would say go ahead and delete. :-P
