My friend got a macbook about a month ago and Apple offered him Leopard for $10+tax. He received it and the packaging did NOT say if it was single-use of multi-use. He has successfully installed the disc onto his Macbook and I would like to do so also. What may happen if I install his disc?

Hey.. it's used... and he's selling it. You bought it now it belongs to you. "Technically" he should remove it from his laptop. If not... it's not like there's a serial number there. If you paid, you get to play. Install away.

Do the right thing and buy Leopard yourself. Apple does not use phone-home activation crap, in return you should respect that.

Nope.

You aren't buying a disc, you're buying a license. His copy had one license, so just because you might buy the disc from him, there is still only one license, so it should only be on one machine.

Can we make this into a sticky or something? That's probably the 10th new thread about this question since Leopard came out... Short answer: yes it will work, but it will be against the license agreement.

Can you do it? Yes. Is it legal? Nope. Closing …
