Hi, I'm wondering if it is worth the effort to upgrade from 10.3.9 to 10.5.1 on a G5 iMac? I have been reading some threads about problems with the upgrade. My 10.3.9 works fine, but I realize that someday some applications will eventually not accept 10.3.9. Thanks.

I have installed it on my mothers iMac G5 with 2GB and it works fine, only the extras in iChat such as video effects do not work, but everything else does...

Only the backdrops in iChat are not supported on a G5. Everything else works fine. It's definitely worth to upgrade from 10.3. It's faster and has tons of useful features over Panther.

I am running 10.5.1 on an iMac G5 1.9GHz 17" and it is great. I have only 1 GB of ram and about 120GB of hard drive space left and it is great.

Thanks very much for your replies. My G5 iMac has 768MB RAM and 1.6GHz with plenty of space available. I will give it a try soon. Thanks again.

If you upgrade to 2 GB RAM, you'll find your usage and experience smoother.

Yeah, I agree. Upgrading to 1 gig or even 2 gigs would be a good idea.

I have a 1.8 GHz G5 with 768 Mb of RAM in it right now (I had 1.5 Gb but one chip died). It needs more RAM to run Leopard smoother, the experience isn't that great with only 768 Mb. It was great with 1.5 Gb.
