From me:

My Mosaic Screensaver is awesome, but it has the damn progress bar in the middle of it the entire time, telling me "Building your Mosaic Database" when it is seemingly built. How do I make it go away?

From a friend:

His System Preferences crashes every time he opens it. I told him to trash com.apple.systemprefernces.plist in his user library, but it didn't work. Is there anything else he can do to make it work?

actually, the above description only scratches the surface of my (a friend's) problem. i recently tried to set a mosaic screensaver, to no avail. as soon as i tried to do it, system preferences froze and then quit. whenever i open the screensaver section of system preferences, it again tries to do a mosaic and again quits while unresponsive. any suggestions on how to stop it from quitting?

~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.iphotomosaic.plist
Delete that file and then go back into your screensavers and your database will be rebuilt; which should fix your issue of System Preferences crashing.

Already did that. Didn't fix the progress bar sticking.
