Hi,

Could not find any thread related to this so here it goes:

1. I deleted all my address cards because it was in kind of a mess
2. I then wanted to restore my Addressbook from my mobile W800i so I used iSync for this
3. isync then deleted all my a contacts on my mobile without even asking before deletion (wtf).

Now, does anybody know how I can get back my contacts? I did not empty my trash.

Thanks a lot in advance
and if there is a previous thread on this please let me know.

If you don't have a backup you will have to recreate your Address Book entries by hand.

Didn't empty your trash ? Well, are the .vcf files still in there ? If so, pull them out of the trash, and drag them back in to address book..

hi I can not see the .vcf files there which I was expecting. Isn't there an isync backup file?

...and why isn't there a warning before deleting any stuff with isync? I remember this existed in Tiger.

It warned you before you're about to change data ON YOUR COMPUTER.

Still does.

If you manually and explicitly delete a bunch of stuff on your computer and read through the warning and explicitly click on the non-defaulted button, it will assume that you know what you're doing.

(no backup?)

it did not warn me about anything. No message what so ever. I clicked the sync devices button and then suddenly everything was gone on my mobile. And no, no backup...Well, not the end of the world. Thanks for the replies.

Again: iSync only warns you when you're about to delete or modify data ON YOUR COMPUTER.

Address Book warned you when you manually deleted all entries.

In any case, sorry you lost your data, and I don't think there's any way to retrieve it without a backup.

Fwiw, in Address Book, go to File and choose to Backup your database. If you ever get in this situation again, you will be able to revert to the Backup. Likewise in iCal.
