Will Time Machine work with an internal drive. I have a Mac Pro with multi drives, and was wondering if I still needed an external drive?

Thanks.

Of course it will. There's no difference between a drive located internally and a drive located externally as far as Time Machine or any other user software is concerned.

However, it is advisable to have a backup on external media (e. g. an external drive) (possibly in addition to backups on your internal drive).

True, but that external backup only does you any good if (a) your other two drives fail, or (b) you keep that backup at a second physical location.

That said, external backups are really smart, especially if you keep them at a second physical location.

He's talking about a SECOND internal drive.

Nomainboard or PSU failure, your files are still safe. Also practically, you can transfer your files much easier from one machine to another (backup) machine.

So my advice was and still is: have backups on external media. This doesn't exclude to use a second internal drive, but IMHO a second internal drive complements backups on internal media.
