Some user feedback on Leopard speed with a mix of old and new systems, including a 1.67GHz (http://forums.macnn.com/90/mac-os-x/...2/#post3523812)

Hi-Res PowerBook G4 1.67 GHz here. Only 1 GB RAM. Leopard runs great. I opted for the Archive and Install.

I'd say Leopard runs at least as smoothly as Tiger, but honestly I can't remember what Tiger ran like on this machine anymore, since it has had Leopard on it since around August... of last year.

I have a PB 1.5 and leopard runs fine. The UI is just as snappy as in Tiger no speed difference here (for me). The only thing that Tiger was waaay better at is caching the information on a pdf. once tiger indexed it - thats it - it was done. Leopard OTOH indexes it, then when I open the pdf, minutes later, the cpu gets pegged @ 100% for 10 minutes and the UI for preview becomes unusable but other apps seem not to be very effected by it....

Same thing happens on my MP, but the UI effect is barely noticeable. I (hope) think it is a bug. I think you will be OK...

I have a 1.67ghz (high resolution) G4 PowerBook with 1.5GB of memory at home and it runs very well.

I'm giving it to my mom so she can use it as her main computer and I'll be putting 2GB of memory in it; which can't hurt.

1.33GHz 12" PowerBook G4 with 1.25GB RAM (maximum capacity) and a 60GB 4200RPM HD. Runs pretty well. Desktop apps are fine. The eye candy (Dashboard, etc.) is a bit jumpy, but functions.

I took have a PBG4 1.67 15" with 1.5 gig of RAM.

I have noticed that Leopard is faster than Tiger. Not significantly faster, it's not blowing Tiger out of the water (you have to remember the hardware limitations), but it is slightly faster. I have noticed that it's using up more RAM then Tiger did, but this is to be expected.

I backed up everything onto an external, then did an Erase and Install. Took about half an hour, and works fine.

If you need any more specifics, just let me know.
