Creating Scenes Every 5 minutes from Camcorder

Just looking for a way to partition the video from my Sony digital8 Handycam into equally spaced clips. After that, I'll burn them to DVD for storage & future iMovie editing.

Why? Well, I'm one of those stuck with about 100+ digital8 tapes and trying to preserve them in a better format for easier editing.

All help/tips will be greatly appreciated.
