Hi

I've bought my Mum a Mac Book and created a separate, restricted account for her to keep things simple. When she opens a Finder window it still has my name ('Ben Johnston's Computer") at the top. I don't have this issue with my own machine (10.4.9), which gives different user accounts their own name in the Finder.

It's a small thing which isn't creating any problems, but it's bugging me...

Thanks

Two problems here:

Finder > Preferences... > General > New Finder windows open: Home

System Preferences > Sharing > Computer name: Mum's Computer

You can't have different computer names for each account because... it's the same computer. Your own machine (10.4.9) certainly doesn't allow this either; the computer name is completely separate from and unrelated to your username and associated home folder.

Perfect. Thanks. I set her default Finder window in such a way as to encourage use of the links on the sidebar, but the renaming in 'Sharing' will do the job.
