Just got nifty 500 Gig external. Downloading lots of bittorrents, so partitioned it in 3:

(with 60 Gig MacBook)

180 Gigs (x3 hard drive) - TimeMachine
80 Gigs - Clone, using CCC (bootable)
Rest - Torrent files & backups

Questions: Am I wasting too much space with TM? Is clone adequate enough for my needs? What would you do?

: )

Myself, I'm going the other way. 80 gigs is way too much for the bootable partition, IMO - I just dedicated 20 GB to a minimal bootable partition, not a full clone, for running utilities such as DiskWarrior. The rest is all for TM.

The advantage of a clone is that it thoroughly backs up all my files and allows me to restore my system back onto the main hard drive if it fails or needs to be reformatted. However, TM already does that, so...

Ticking sound coming from a .pkg package? Don't let the .bom go off! Inspect it first with Pacifist. Macworld - five mice!
