I am running OS X Server 10.3.9 and this morning I came in and I was told that nobody could get email. I checked the server and on the Accounts tab in the Server Admin program it showed Unknown mailbox path instead of the normal /var/spool/imap/user/xxx (xxx is name of mailbox). There are 9 accounts and two of the accounts use webmail only, not mail.app on a client machine to view and sort mail. The two accounts had subfolders where mail was organized. I did a reconstruct of the mailboxes using the instructions I found in Apple article 107996.

My mailboxes now work and all mail is there except for the subfolders. When I login using webmail to these two accounts I only get the inbox, deleted messages, drafts and sent messages folders. I noticed that while the reconstruction was taking place that I saw all the subfolders.

For example:
user/XXX/OWC
user/XXX/Misc Internet Orders
user/XXX/VersionTracker
user/XXX/eBay
etc...

How do I get these to become visible when I login to these two accounts? There is a lot of mail in these folders that is important. I must also tell you that I do not know much about using the terminal program. I use it only when I can find step-by-step instructions online. Any help will be appreciated. Thank You!

Figured it out after 2hrs of searching the web. The way to get those folders back is to login to the webmail account and click on Folders. At the bottom there is the option to subscribe or unsubscribe to the folders. Mine were all unsubscribed so I subscribed to them all and they now appear in the bar on the left under inbox, deleted messages, drafts and sent messages. Hope this helps anyone else hat has experienced the same problem.

Sounds like the Webmail you are referring to is Squirrelmail?

I believe the IMAP server implementation in OS X Server is Cyrus. It is very useful learning how to use cyradm, I would recommend doing so.
