we are having many issues, Bought the new touch ipod 16gb and attempting to use with G4. OS in use was 10.3 I think. So we were advised to get leopard and external hard drive which then resulted in lock up when we tried to load due to need for more memory. All in all we have now spent 500 plus the costs of the ipod and still cannot use it yet. I am worried about trying again. It took a long tech call to get the os disc out . ANy advice? This has been very frustrating....new memeory shoud arrive tomorrow, an additioanl 1 GB of RAm the external hard drive is 360 gb.
Any suggestions will be apprecaited we are not that savvy but have used macs since 1987 and until yesterday NEVER had an issue.
Thanks
CYndi

Whoever told you to upgrade with those specs gave you bad advice. Sorry you're feeling the pain. You definitely need more RAM.

I think we are going to take the whole shabang to a mac tech ( Chareston Tech support)and have them install and back up and get us on the right road and hopefully save the G4 and our sanity!

Hoo-boy. You definitely got some terrible advice there. I was running Leopard on a 1.25GHz G4 (see sig), with 768MB of RAM, and it was okay, but not exactly nippy. It wasn't until I upgraded to 1.25GB of RAM that Leopard was really happy. I would strongly putting at least another gigabyte in there.
