I've got three Mac's at present, one each of an Intel & PowerPC MacMini running 10.4.11 and an old Mac running 10.3.9. I used to own a Mac OSX Tiger install DVD but god knows what's happened to it. I was thinking of creating a Tiger Restore CD from the PowerPC MacMini, but ideally I'd just like to upgrade the eMac from 10.3.9 To Tiger, not do a full reinstall of a backup from another Mac (i.e. the restore). Is there anyway to create/do this without buying tiger again?

The only other option is to boot the eMac into Firewire Target Disk Mode (boot it holding down the "T" key), and to connect it to the PowerPC Mac mini and install Tiger from there, using the mini's Install disk.

Thanks for the helpful reply analogika.
Didn't think of the Firewire target Disk mode option, would the PowerPC's Macmini Tiger Restore Disc work on the eMac, if the eMac's disk was mounted using Firewire Target disk mode, I guess it could as the eMacs mounted HD would be seen as just another HD of the MacMini?
I guess I wouldn't be able to "upgrade" (in place) the OS from Panther to Tiger on the eMacs HD though, just wipe it and reinstall the Macminis Tiger install?

You would be able to just upgrade.

I thought software restore disks, just restored a Mac to it's original state, and thus didn't allow for an upgrade, only one way to find out I guess!

That's how it was in the Classic and early OS X days, not anymore. Now they are just an OS X installer with bundled applications that checks for a specific Mac model before allowing an install.

If I have an Emac install disc, will it work with any Emac, or only the specific version it came with? (ie the 1 ghz emac vs 1.25 ghz version, or something like that.)
