I just connected my Macbook Pro to my HDTV using a DVI to HDMI cable however I've found my desktop on the HDTV goes over the height of the HDTV so I can't see the menu bar and part of the dock on the HDTV.
Have you guys experienced this? Is there any way to resize the output to my HDTV? FYI, I've done this in Windows and I've Mac OS X Leopard on my Mac.
Thanks in advance.

open up system preference, click displays, and you should see two windows -- one on your macbook pro screen and the other on the HDTV. Try adjusting the Resolution setting for the HDTV.
What's the native resolution for your television?

Yeah, overscan seems to be the culprit however if it's unchecked then it's not using the whole screen of the HDTV

are you sure your TV's native resolution is 1080i? many 1080i capable TVs have native resolutions of 1366x768 or something similar...

I have the same problem with my TV. Unfortunately, SysPrefs does not five an overscan option, to my knowledge. Interstingly, iTunes visualizer does though...

You need to set your HDTV to use its "Pixel-by-Pixel" if it has one.

Yeah, it does not. Why is OS X able to compensate for overscan on some TVs?
