Ok apart from the not so little fault of basically becoming so erratic that I needed to do a clean install
Issues that occurred on the first install are still occurring so I guess they class as bugs:
Why does my drive icon KEEP disappearing from the desktop and only return on a restart?
Why do servers keep disappearing from the side bar and reappearing in different guises?
Why do volumes hate dismounting and why does the open finder window for that drive fly shut when the drive demounts? I want to use that window, that's why every window has a sidebar
Why can I not copy across the network because every folder reports that the file DS_Store already exists?
Why does back to my mac not work, at all?
Why won't photoshop write jpegs without corrupting them?
Looking forward to 10.5.2 today (hopefully). Maybe sort a few things out.

Sounds like Finder (somehow) got screwed up, wait for 10.5.2 and if doesn't help, do a Archive/Clean Install. You could try to delete its .plsit file (where it is, I don't know).

Could it be that Bonjour is showing services, shares, etc., as they become available?
Wouldn't we need to know more about what's on your network to answer that?
Anyway, see Finder prefs -> Sidebar to hide stuff in the SHARED section.

Indeed, but it's not that I object to having shared locations in the sidebar it's just that yesterday they were listed under shared as the server and below that my wifes powerbook. Today they are both replaced by a single icon called all (with a world picture) which when I click on it shows the shared locations in the finder window to the left.
Why?
I didn't change anything.
My hard drive icon is now back on my desktop (I have no idea why). It will be gone again tomorrow I'm sure.

That's not a bug; that's by design.
From what I see, *most* (not all, not me, and not you, obviously) people tend to only open a Finder window when they're doing something specific, and close it immediately afterwards.

Not seeing this, but I only have Macs on my network.

Router port forwarding or firewall issue?

CS3 isn't Leopard-compatible yet.
Not seeing your other issues, here.
