I have an iBook G4 800 running 0X 10.3.9 and I am having serious trouble logging into the primary account (I have it set so upon boot you click the user, then enter pass).

If I try my account, when I enter the password it hangs instantly. The computer completley freezes, with the only fix being a power off and on again. Sometimes, however, it will not get to the logging in screen, and instead the entire screen will go grey, and I get told to restart my computer.

I CAN log in to other accounts, but of course I cannot see my primary account's Home folder, which is a pain.

Another issue which may be related is that when using the other account, although I can boot to desktop, I can't use Bluetooth, access USB/FW400 hard drives and USB pendrives, not go online. It just gives the message that my internet connection is not responding.

So could it be a major hardware failure, as well as a corrupted login?
I tried to reinstall OSX and it got to about 80% and said an error prevented it from installing.

Weird huh? Any help would be hugely appreicated!

Try holding the Shift key as you click the login button. That should disable any login items you have.

The computer is mine and the account I cannot log into is the first account created, which obviosuly has access to everything on the computer.

I'll try holding Shift down whilst clicking on log-in.

Thanks.
