I've been trying to start up the StarCraft campaign editor lately, which requires Classic Support. So I installed it, but the loading bar for Classic starting up hangs towards the very end and won't finish starting up. Any idea what's happening?

It's an extensions conflict. Select OS 9 base mode (in the Advanced tab of the Classic pane) and you should be able to start it.

There is no "Base Mode" option, but I assume you mean turning extensions off. It still hangs.
I'm on MacNN forums, but no longer have a Mac...

Strange, I had the same symptom on my iBook long ago, and it was cured by just using OS 9 base extensions. Do you have the Classic support installer by any chance?
