Two questions/issues.
1 - Whenever I shutdown or restart my Mac, it seems to take forever to actually shutdown/quit OSX. This has not always been the case, but I guess I noticed it ever since 10.5 was installed. How can I find/look at the processes going on during shutdown/reboot? I'm wondering if I have some app/process running during shutdown/reboot that I shouldn't have or something. I really can't figure out what is making it take so long, and I've looked all over to find any files/info and I can't find anything. Pre 10.5 there was a shutdown folder showing any apps/scripts and such that you might have (along with a startup folder to see what is set to run on startup). There is a startup items folder, along with the ability to see startup items under the Accounts prefpane. But alas, nothing like that for shutdown. Any tips/info?
2 - I have a folder with about 15,000 files in it. Mostly fonts, but I have other folders with over 1000 items that I need to deal with, too. Is there a easy/good way to auto-split these folders and their contents into smaller folders? I use
Droffett to flatten folders, and I love that app and how simple/effective it is. So I want something to do the exact opposite of what Droffett does - maybe split the folder with 15,000 files into folders containing 500 files each or something. Is there a way (or simple app) to auto-split large folders?
