Sometimes I lose the ability to minimize windows into the dock. The yellow window widget is grayed out. It seems to happen randomly. I am running 10.5.2 on a MacBook. Any ideas?

I get that too, running 10.4.11. It seems to happen to windows still open when I wake it from sleep.

Sorry, never happened to me yet (unless I've purposely killed the Dock).

Will command-m minimize it despite the grayed-out button?

The keyboard shortcut does not work, and I've had it happen with Safari and Finder for sure.

It is most likely due to a Quicktime bug. Either logout and log back in or open any QT movie and then close it. Your windows should be back to normal.

Quicktime?? For safari and mail?

I tried playing a QT movie - didn't work. I'm not about to log out and back in just to get the minimize button. That's more disruptive then losing the #$%& thing anyways.

It may be the well-know QT bug. I forgot one step. Open a QT movie, full-screen it and then quit QT.

Wow, weird.... quicktime huh. Well it worked. Opened a quicktime movie, full screened it and quit it. Both mail and safari minimized after.

Wonder if this is going to ever get fixed. It seems like its been ongoing for some time from the dates on this forum. I use quicktime a lot and it is getting somewhat annoying.

Ha, LOL, happens to me every now and then.

I got rid of it (mostly) by restarting the app. I'm gonna try the QT thing next time.
