Hi,
Is it possible to create a partition (booting from the Leopard DVD), without erasing any files of my actual HD?
Many thanks!

Yes and you don't even need to boot from the DVD. You can use Disk Utility while booted from the hard drive you're partitioning.

Just to be safe, I would suggest you make a backup before doing this. Am a firm believer if s#&t happens.

Yeah, that's good advice. Live repartitioning is a nice thing, but you should always back up first.

Hi again,
I don't know if somebody is interested, but I found a quick solution to my problem.
For sure quicker than cloning my HD, erasing it and copy the clone back.

I've bought a copy of iDefrag, used their bootable software CDMaker, defrag my HD in Compact mode and voila!
I was right away able to create my BootCamp partition and go ahead with the Windows XP installation.
Cheers

The other half of the context for bahia's latest post seems to be another thread. Basically, he was trying to partition as explained in this thread and got thwarted by free space fragmentation, so he used iDefrag and was able to do it — hence the kind of mysterious reference to iDefrag in this thread.

By the way, glad you got it working, bahia.
