hello
since the last hour or so i've been having some weird things happening on my MacPro...

1.just out of the blue, Speech started reading EVERYTHING i do. If I open a Photoshop document it will read out loud the name of the file... everywhere I put my mouse, it will tell me what it is... if I move the mouse over 'File' it will actually say 'File' followed by everything i do... so annoying...

2. black frames appear everywhere i place my mouse. If i click on the harddrive icon it will show a black frame around the icon and name... and disappears when i click somewhere else... to put a black frame around the last item clicked...
any window i click will show a black frame around it...

3. In the Finder under apple and finder, some things show up twice: 'restart' shows up twice, same for 'shut down' and 'log out'...
Under Finder: ''empty trash' shows up twice...

anyone can tell me what's going on?
thanks!

It's a setting in Universal Access that was turned on. Check the Universal Access pane of System Preferences.

Haha, neither. I'm pretty smart, yes, but I also know the OS really well. Glad to have helped.

For the repeated menu items just reinstall 10.4.11. For some reason my mom's Mac mini does this too.

There is no feature for duplicate menu items, AFAIK.

Yeah, it's part of the Voice Over feature in Accessibility Options.
