Here is a question for those who are much more informed than I am on the new OS. My Leopard system (Quicksilver 867GHz) has 24GB allocated (per Activity monitor), while Tiger on a different machine (iBook G4 933) has only 3GB. The leopard system has a 120GB disk, showing 70 and 45GB for used and free, respectively. Why is there such a huge difference in VM size and is this something to be concerned about?

My MBP C2D has 33.10 GB VM allotted. Seems odd, but could be normal. I've never noticed before.

Nothing odd about it. VM is not real memory. It could be 30TB and still wouldn't matter.

You do more and reboot less often with your desktop?

VM isn't real, it's virtual; no impact on disk space.

It has *SOME* impact on disk space. Or is it residing in hyberspace ?

VM has none. Swap, however, has impact on disk space. VM is not the same as Swap and it is not the same as Classic's VM.

None. It's just addressing space. I've got 50GB VM on a box with a 75GB HD (26 used/49 free).
