Every time I set an Application to use Rosetta, Leopard forgets that it's set after the computer logs out.

Is there a way to keep an application set to run using Rosetta? We have educational software that uses Shockwave, but there's no Intel (and won't be) version of the Shockwave plugin. The browser has to run in PPC mode to use the plugin.

I'm confused: are you talking about an application other than a web browser (Safari?) or the browser itself? Maybe you're referring to this:

Using Shockwave Player on an Intel-based Macintosh

In any case, if this is a regular admin account on the computer, try repairing permissions with Disk Utility. If for some reason this is a Leopard guest account (you don't say which OS you're running), all settings revert to defaults after logging out and then logging back in, so the setting wouldn't stick.

Yes, it's exactly that. When I set the browser to use Rosetta, it'll work for that session. As soon as I log the user off, it's no longer set to run under Rosetta.

Even under Administrator, it doesn't remember. I've repaired permissions. It's a fresh install of 10.5.2.

The students using the browser will be managed users, non-admin.

Which browser are you using? Have you tried a different browser?

I've tried setting Rosetta on Safari, Camino, and Firefox.

Confirmed here as well.

You can modify the Info.plist files for your browsers to include:

<key>LSPrefersPPC</key>
<true/>

Awesome, thanks! I can even copy a modified version of the browser now with that change and rename it Shockwave.

Of course, now I have to get out all 30 laptops... again... and recopy the browser. Looong day.
