Most people seem to think that the change to Leopard is worth it. Most programs which worked with 10.4 also work on 10.5. You might find it helpful to read this thread:

I would definitely go for Leopard. You'll love it. Most of your apps should run just fine too.

If the mac was new, it should have shipped with either Leopard already installed or a an upgrade DVD in the box. If it didn't then someone has stiffed you.

Not necessarily. There were new Macs without Leopard when Leopard started shipping. You could upgrade then to Leopard for $9.

Leopard makes a lot of things work better on the aluminum iMac. For example, if you have a second monitor attached, when you wake it up in Tiger, it takes a while to figure out what to do with each monitor. Under Leopard, the main display wakes up immediately and the computer is immediately responsive, while the other monitor sorts itself out very quickly. You'll be glad you upgraded.

Thanks for the info I have decided to stay with 10.4.11 and not upgrade for now till the bugs are out. Then upgrade ( i have had enough problem with bugs before).

kookie
Even though the cheap upgrade option expired at the end of January (thanks for the data, analogika), Leopard is a good upgrade, and version 10.5.2 has addressed a lot of things people have complained about or asked to be made better. What "bugs" are you concerned about? Having an actual list of what worries you can help you pay attention to the status of those issues so you can make an informed decision about when to go for the upgrade.

Any bugs I've seen in Leopard are an inconenience at best. Go for it.

I would suggest you buy the upgrade since its less expensive to buy now than later, then hold off installing until the 3rd or 4th update to leopard comes out. Hopefully by then most of the bugs get worked out. I have both loaded on my mac pro but run tiger. I go into leopard once in awhile to play around with it. You could put leopard on an external to play around with it, load some programs to see if its stable enough for you, then move to it when your ready. IMHO, it was released to early but definately an awesome OS. I look forward to running it full time.

IMO, 10.5.2 is far less buggy than any other 10.x.2 release.
