Hey guys i'm running an iMac intel Core2Duo (2Ghz) with 2GB RAM.
I installed leopard about a month ago; it just installed over the top of tiger - i think! All my files were still there anyway.
The install went fine for about two days; then it had it's first kernel panic (first ever since i've had the computer - just over a year).
Since then i've had another two kernel panics, microsoft office 2004 regularly quits while i'm in the middle of working (excel, word and powerpoint), quicktime runs really slowly and also tends to stop responding, the dock has frozen on occasion, while manoeuvering around finder, trying to rename or move files - i often get the warning flash, sometimes with a beep.
I'm thinking of trying a reinstall but completely removing all data this time.
What's everyone else think? Will this clear up the problems?
Also will the disk that came with my mac have the iLife 06 apps on it or will I have to splash out on iLife 08?
And if i copy my iTunes folder (to external hard disk) will i just be able to drag it back over to my mac and have all the files play (inc. iTunes purchases)?
Any other help, advice would be appreciated.
Cheers

Yeah, the install sounds really messed up.
First, back up everything. Then do an archive-install. It's not a clean wipe, but in most ways that matter, it is one. It'll preserve applications, documents, and -- if you make sure the options are checked -- users and network settings.

There should be a DVD that came with your Mac that has the original OS install and an option to install additional software. Among that "additional software" should be options to install just the iLife programs as well as some other program that are nice to have but not part of the standard OS itself.
Best thing to do would be to now, before erasing anything, put in the DVD and run the installer -- don't install anything but look to see how to migrate to that "optional/additional software install" screen so you know it's there.
If you drag your old iTunes folder back into your Music folder, iTunes should work just as it did before ... with one caveat. You need to update your freshly installed ITunes to the same (or later) version of what you had been using before. For instance, if you were using iTunes 7.4, but your DVD installer installs iTunes 7.2, it won't be able to use properly access your music until you update to 7.4 (or later).
