Formerly invisible files now visible (e.g., DS_store). How to fix?

I have a mb and somehow i changed some setting and on my desktop it has these wierd icons: .Localized and .DS_store
How do i get rid of them or hide them?

These are normally hidden files. (Any file that begins with a "." in OS X is hidden by default.) Do you have some type of system-hack software (like Onyx, Deeper, Secrets, etc.) that is showing these hidden files on the desktop?
By the way, this thread should not be in the Notebook thread.

The DS Store files are hidden files which include attributes information of the folders. I generally delete them (without any consequence), since I do not customize colors, backrgrounds or what not of the folders.

Download TinkerTool and use it to toggle the Finder preference to show hidden files
