I have a mac pro running 10.4.9. After it has been on for a couple of hours it starts to activate the ALT key all the time (it has taken me quite long time to find out that this is what happens, as the text just starts to behave strange etc., but I have now replicated the behaviour and it is as if the ALT key is pressed).
I have created a new user profile, made an archive and install on the system (it started when the system was 10.4.11), changed keyboard, changed usb keyboard port, disabled universal access.
It goes away after restart, but is very annoying.
When it happens, it doesn't go back to normal behaviour if I press the ALT key (I tried it just in case it would somehow revert it).

Any ideas?

TIA,
Peter

Go to System Preferences -> Universal Access, click the Keyboard tab, and make sure Sticky Keys is off, as well as the "Press the Shift key five times to turn Sticky Keys on or off" option.

Ticking sound coming from a .pkg package? Don't let the .bom go off! Inspect it first with Pacifist. Macworld - five mice!
