I created a new user after one of the updates borked my QuickTime install, now none of my email is being indexed so I can search it.

I tried: sudo mdutil -E Library/Mail/

It tells me "No index."

Put ~/Library/Mail into the privacy area of System Preferences->Spotlight->Privacy, then remove it again.

mdimport
~/Library/Mail/

[...maybe with sudo] should do it (assuming no other "issues" exist).

See man mdimport for options, info, etc.

Hmm. OK, tried it without sudo. Did something, will try again.

Now when I try to index it says:

"Error: unexpected indexing state (/Users/xxxxxx/Library/Mail/)"

I guess whatever update I ran that corrupted my user account, messed up the whole computer. Sigh.
