I'm learning apple's motion and and one of the keyboard shortcuts to move to the start of the play range is Home+shift.
The only problem is that THERE'S NO HOME KEY!!!!
After searching frantically on my keyboard, on the internet and on the keyboard layout I just gave up. Any ideas where the home key is???

Home is labelled "home" on Apple portable KBs or by an arrow (pointing towards the upper left) on their USB KBs. On the MB/MBP/MBA it's overlaid on left (fn-left) and on the extended KBs it's the arrow between the fn (on the aluminum KBs) or help (on the white KBs) and page up keys.

Well thanks for the fast answer. I swear that I tried that key combination and it didn't work. But now that I've tried again it works flawlessly!
You saved my keyboard from being smashed on to a wall!!!

You must have a laptop because the home key is by itself on a desktop Mac keyboard. With laptops you have to also use the FN key because the home key is shared with another function.

On MBPs it's actually labeled home (overlaid on the left arrow). On Apple's desktop KBs it is labeled with an arrow. You have to know that this arrow means home.

Not US English keyboards. It's labeled "Home."

Yes I know about the overlay on laptops. My PowerBook is the same way. Art Vandelay is correct about the US english keyboards. They are labeled "home" and that's the only purpose for the key. I didn't realize that it was different in other countries aside from the language difference of course.

Simon doesn't have a US keyboard any more than the OP, so that distinction is irrelevant. Isn't it?

Simon doesn't say where he's from. In front of his Mac doesn't really give me a clue to where he is in the world. Also, he made a blanket statement about desktop keyboards. I was simply stating that US keyboards do have a "Home" key, which I believe is very relevant to the topic.

Yeah, what's with the bickering? Let's just sort it out.

So did Apple change that? My white KB says home indeed, but my aluminum KB has the arrow. IIRC both are US keyboards. All the European Apple KBs I have seen use symbols (like the arrows, the delete icon, and the switch icon).

I was just simply stating a piece of information: that US English keyboards have Home on their key. Voodoo is the one that came in here and started bickering with me. I've added relevant information to this thread. Voodoo has not. That's all I'm going to say about this.

I've never seen anything but "Home" on US keyboards, laptop or desktop. My aluminum keyboard that I'm typing on right now says Home.

The aluminum bluetooth keyboard is not labelled. It just has an arrow. You have to know that fn+left = home and fn+up = end. Luckily I'm using to that since my 17" Powerbook keys are labelled.

Interesting... I wonder why they don't label it on the bluetooth keyboard but they do on laptop keyboards. The keyboard layout is identical now between the two.

Edit:
Just looked at the current laptops at apple.com and they no longer have the arrow keys labeled with their secondary functions.
