My G4 Powerbook is running 10.4.11. I cloned by HD onto a new HD, and there have been some minor issues since then (computer won't go into timed sleep, won't wake from sleep if battery dies and is then reconnected to AC). They might be battery issues, but I'd like to do a reinstall of 10.4 anyway.

Aside from the 10.4 discs for the Intel Macs, are all PowerPC 10.4 install discs created equal? Would buying a disc that came with say, an iBook, work on my Powerbook? Or does it have to be the copy I would have bought in the store?

Thanks

The install discs that come with machines are not just OS install discs, but include iLife and other bundled applications.

They are almost *always* bound to the machine series they shipped with.

The retail 10.4 doesn't come with the bundled iLife/etc, and will install on all machines that meet minimum spec and were shipped *before* the disc was made (e.g. you probably cannot use a 10.4.1 retail disc to install Tiger on a machine that shipped with 10.4.3 as its minimum OS version, as support for that specific machine wasn't added until 10.4.3).
