I have a dual G5 powermac running 10.4.9 , I have two user accounts setup on this G5,
the main user account I use for all my applications and the other for Pro-Tools audio application which for some reason would not install on the main user account a year ago so I just created an alternate user account just to run this application

This morning I verified and repaired permissions on the main hard drive when i was in my alternate user account and when I went back to my main user account everything was gone
All my apps like ITunes, iPhoto and Garageband were all hosed (they were opening up as it was the first time ,plus all my garageband songs have completely disappeared and itunes library gone)

Is there anything I can do to get my user account back to the way it was!!

Sorry for the noobie question , I really would appreciate any help!

Sounds like you not only repaired permissions but also either moved or renamed your main user's home folder (which unfortunately you're allowed to do in 10.4).

Hi
thanks for the reply , I didnt rename the main user account but I did stupidly move it from the /User folder to the desktop (when in the alternate account and when I tried to move it back to the /User folder there was a new main user account created there that I could not replace , So I think it just set up a new main user account .
How can i get back to my old account , i can still log in with my old password to the main user account and the username is exactly the same but all my work from the last year is missing!

From your admin account, get info on the desktop folder for the alternate account, and you'll see a disclosure triangle that says permissions. If you're an admin, you can change this from no access to read & write long enough to get your files off of the desktop of the alternate account & put them back where they belong.
