When I try to save a file using "save as" it will not let me choose a subfolder in which to save the file -- only main folders on the hard drive. Is there a way choose a subfolder?

Select one of the main folders - the sub-folders should appear on the right.

I've tried with Word for Windows and TextEdit, and no subfolders appear when I choose one of the main folders.

What about if you try to create a new folder from the save dialogue?

OK, my fault. I didn't have the little dropdown arrow beside the document title dropped down. That shows all of my folders and subfolders. (Former Windows user -- *redface*)

That's alright.
Took me a good while to realize that drop down arrow was there. I was just growing accustomed to saving my files to my desktop and then dragging them to where I wanted them later.
Only difference is I never had to ask; just found out about it myself.
