I want to rearrange the position of my USB HDD that I am using for Time Machine. When I try to eject the disk, it says it is in use. I have turned off Time Machine and system preferences, but I get the same message. What do I need to do to eject this disk?

You may have some program in memory, is there any software on that disk or is it a dedicated TM disk? The easiest way to see is, is turn the machine off, unplug and then turn the Mac back on.

Seems I was trying to eject the Time Machine folder -- not the disk itself. When I moved the folder, the disk showed up, as if it was hidden behind the folder on the desktop. I was able to eject the disk, move things around and get everything turned back on. Thanks.
