Hello all,

I imagine there is but I can't find anything with a google search that works... Is there a way at the login screen instead of viewing the list of accounts have it bring up the Username and Passwords filed, without having to change this in system prefs everytime?

I read holding down option-esc and click a user would work, but didn't with 10.5...

Are there any other Login keyboard short cuts?

Cheers,

Stu

In the login preferences you can choose to display username and passwords.

Yeah, but that would mean I have to login, turn that on, log out, log into the account I want, log out of that, log back into the first one, turn it off back to the list of users and log out.

There must be a shortcut at the login window where I can have it with username and password...

The situation is, there is a list of 10 accounts for different courses, I want to log into an admin account which isn't listed, without having to login to a local admin account to turn on the setting in the Accounts Prefs. The 'Other' account is not listed in the account list on these Macs.

Not sure what exactly you are looking for, but you can turn on fast user switching to quickly switch between accounts.

Ok probably my bad for not being clear...

I've a lab of computers, when you turn them on the login screen appears with the list of accounts on the Mac. Which is how we want to keep them. I'll use the Root account as an example, now that won't be listed among the accounts, for obvious reasons. To access this account we log into the admin account, goto system prefs and accounts, change the login window from list accounts to display Username and Password. We then log out and login as Root.

I was hoping there was a quick keyboard short cut at the login screen when accounts are listed, that by holding down (off the top of my head) option command would change the login screen to display Username and Password for the one off occasions we need it, instead of the long winded route via System Prefs every time.

Worked here (when i rebooted into 10.5.3 tonight).
Pretty handy for hidden root login, etc.

Say listen... is that key-combo supposed to be a secret or something?
I've searched the apple.com support area and can't pull up a single page about this.
apple.com link anyone?
