I've seen lots of threads all over about the auto Space switching that happens with cmd-tab and how you can prevent this with the workspaces-auto-swoosh option or the new option in Spaces preferences in 10.5.3. To be honest, I have no problem with the system switching Spaces when I cmd-tab to a different app since I assign apps to different spaces and I have control.
My problem is when the system decides that while I'm typing in some app, if Mail or Entourage receive a message, Spaces automatically switches to my mail space (space 1 in my case). This is truly infuriating, especially when I try to switch back to where I was working and then Spaces pops back because something else happened. IMO, the space should only change when the user requests it, either by switching apps or manually selecting a different space. The "Spaces Spaces Spaces" app does not fix this. Does anybody know what I'm talking about and maybe even have a fix?

No, iTunes does this for me all the time when syncing to my iPod or downloading things. Very annoying. I don't see why it doesnt just bounce the icon.

ibook_steve, you are not alone. This behavior irks the hell out of me. I don't run Entourage, but get this when an alert or some other "random" thing happens. After years of typing, I still look at the keys a lot. So, sometimes I don't realize that the space has switched until I complete several key strokes. Then I look up and think "where the hell am I?"
