I noticed yesterday that my HD icon disappeared from the desktop. Today i noticed that when i open a finder window that the hd does not appear under the devices drop down. Is this a problem or is it just something minor? It doesnt appear to be affecting the way my computer runs. I have a black macbook by the way from dec 2007.

Have you unchecked it in Finder Preferences?

Otherwise you might want to fire up Disk Utility and see what it says there.

I checked both things. The boxes are checked to display the hd. I ran tests and everything seems fine. The icons just arent there. Its pretty wierd.

did you repair the disk?
pop the cd in and hold "d" (i think)?
