I installed the latest version of the Canon i960 driver today after I installed Leopard on a machine, yet software update still wants me to download 233 MB worth of Canon drivers. WTF?

I decided not to, since I do have the latest driver, and the printer works fine.

Is Apple simply asking me to download the updated Canon driver package for ALL Canon printers? Cuz my driver software for this particular printer is definitely not 233 MB.

Yes, I think that would be all Canon drivers. That sounds about right.

It seems than while it shows as a 233MB (mine was 267) it is going to install the drivers to fit your particular Canon model, as you can read here

The software update option will only download the print drivers needed for your computer The manual package is a complete install of all drivers and is much bigger than choosing Software Update option.

I ended downloading it as stand-alone installer from there… it comes handy in case you have to reinstall the system and as I got a Pixma Pro9000 that made it.

if you looked up CUTE chances are a photo of ^^ would be right next to the definition
